Best of Show, Foggy Louisiana Morning by Bob Horne
The Mary Kidwell LA Award, Louisiana Sunshine by Becky Garner
SAC members did well at the Hoover Watercolor Society’s 58th Annual Spring Exhibition at the Norsworthy Fine Arts Gallery in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Judy Horne’s Hard Times received an Honorable Mention.
Linda Snider Ward’s Ghostly Irish received the Joan Purdy Memorial Award.
Becky Garner’s Crowin’ Thyme was accepted into the Hoover Watercolor Spring Exhibition, and it will travel with selected pieces (including the two above) to the Michelson Museum of Art in Marshall, Texas.
The exhibition continues at the Norsworthy Fine Arts Gallery in Shreveport, Louisiana until July 5th. Selected works from the show will travel to the Michelson Museum of Art in Marshall, Texas, where the show continues until August 29th.
Connie W. Cash gave a demonstration on mixed media at SAC’s May 5th member meeting. She also displayed several her mixed media works, several oil paintings, and a sculpture. Connie, originally from Shreveport but now living in Texas, is a painter and sculptor. She “finds her greatest joy and challenges in painting the human face.”
If you missed Connie’s demonstration, you missed a wonderful presentation on mixed media with lots of information.
Shreveport Art Club’s next meeting will be held Tuesday, June 2nd, 10:30am. SAC’s presenter will be Marion Davis. Bring your supplies for painting. She will provide photographs from New Mexico. Members can begin their paintings during the presentation, complete them at home, and show them at the September meeting (there will be no July/August meeting). If you’re not a member of SAC but would like to become one, join us at our June 2nd meeting.
